A Mine of Its Own: Filming the Rise of Autonomous/Electric Rigs at a Solomon Mine
Cohesion Co was engaged to capture the rollout of Epiroc’s autonomous D65 drill rigs — part of Fortescue’s push to lead the world in autonomous mining operations. Through powerful visuals and interviews with site leaders, we showcased the integration of advanced automation into a live, working mine.
Over 50% of the D65 fleet is now autonomous, operated remotely from a command centre. With just one operator overseeing up to four rigs, the benefits are clear.
The system now drills, moves, and aligns independently — even during shift changeovers or weather delays. By capturing the real-world impact of this technology, Cohesion Co helped Epiroc tell a story not just about automation — but about transformation.
